My Modeling Studio

After dabbling in this hobby for two thirds of my life, I am finally in the position to create my own purpose built studio. This will be a part garage conversion and along with a spacious work bench it will also include a spray booth, photobooth and storage and display cabinets, along with space to house all my many reference materials and equipment.

The project will require a new roof, replacement doubled glazed window and door, a stud partition and internal door, a raised floor, new ceiling and fully insulated floor, walls and ceiling. Finally some power and lighting, plus heating for those cold winter days.

Completed July 2017!

Progress pics:

Humble beginnings...
Internally... A lot to clear out

The Stud Partition is the first internal work.
A new double glazed door, I wanted a full glazed door to give as much natural light as possible.

The old rotten wooden window removed...

... and the new uPVC double glazed unit installed!

... and from the inside. Stud work is now also completed and power sockets and lighting all done. The desk should sit right underneath the window giving a lot of natural light.

Partition fully built and now for the insulation.

Celotex i nsultation in and now starting on the plasterboard.
More plasterboarding completed along with a healthy number of power sockets now installed.

... more of the same! All the plasterboarding is just about done, all that is left is to tidy up around the window and doorway.
Insulated floor next and taking shape...
... and quickly completed.
Laminate flooring down and electric heating installed, beginning to plan where the workbench is going to go here.
Originally I was going to have a full length bench however I changed this to a corner bench. Gives an idea of the nice space I will have to work in. The finished layout and with everything setup and ready to go.
All paint storage racks were DIY... I never realised I had so much paint!!!! Spray Booth and Dremel tool corner. The booth has its own extractor fan plumbed in with an external vent to the outside.
The back wall is all display cabinets and reference materials The centre display cabinet is empty for a good reason... I have forgotten where I put the glass shelves!!!!!
