1983 Ferrari F40 Competizione Monte Shell

The F40 Competizione is a more powerful version of the F40 LM cars. They were manufactured as a direct result of consumer requests following the order of a French importer who wanted to enter one in the Le Mans 24 hours. Only 10 examples were built, the first two being called F40 LM's, and the remaining 8 being F40 Competizione, as Ferrari felt that the LM tag was too restrictive for it's needs.
In 1982 the Italian GT Championship was born and the F40 beat off all competition from the nighty Porsche and Lotus to take the Championship convincingly. Determined to repeat the success of the previous season the Monte Shell liveried Jolly Club car was entered into the 1983 Championship, driven by the Italian Marco Brand the car dominated the Championship winning eight out of the ten races. The dominance of the car is further underlined by the fact that these victories were 'pole to flag' races, the F40 and Brand being head and shoulders quicker than anything else in the championship that year.

The build is going to be full detail as the rear engine cover is removable to show off the engine details, along the same lines as the Porsche 917 build I did a couple of years back now. I have three upgrade sets to help add the extra detail.
Having completed the model sadly the fit of the rear engine cover was awful (as can be seen in the pics below) and no adjustment or modification seemed to remedy it. Having checked on various forums this is apparently a very common problem. The result is that the model is going to be displayed with the engine cover in the open position permanently.
