Theodore Racing was owned by hugely successfull businessman Theodore 'Teddy' Yip, a Dutch national who had previously raced sports cars but found greater success as a benefactor. He made several ventures into Formula 5000 and provided backing for many successful F1 drivers such as Alan Jones, Patrick Tambay & Dan Gurney. In 1978 he commissioned successfull car designer Ron Tauranac to build him an F1 car - the TR-1.

Unfortunately for the partnership the venture was not a success and, decided to scrap their original idea, immediately after the British GP of 1978 Yip purchased a Wolf WR-1 chassis from Walter Wolf and entered the German GP with Finnish driver Keke Rosberg at the wheel giving the Fin his first taste of F1, he finished the race a respectable 10th. The car was powered by the most successful engine in F1 history - the Ford Cosworth V8 with a 6 speed Hewland gearbox.

The model is based on the car entered into the 1978 German GP. I have the 1/12 scale Wolf to build in the future soI wanted to make this as different from that car as possible so this variant with its red and white Theodore colour scheme, while simple, looks equally attractive. I added after market p/e details using the Studio27 detail set and I also a large amount of scratch built additions to both the cockpit and engine bay.
