The Tyrrell 006 was introduced towards the end of 1972. The following year and in the hands of Jackie Stewart it won the F1 Drivers' Championship for 1973, Stewart's third and final title, it was also the last F1 car that he competed in retiring at the end of the 1973 season. The car first raced in 1972 at the Canadian Grand Prix, Stewart's team mate François Cevert was at the wheel and whom both Ken Tyrrell and Jackie Stewart believed would some day be world champion. The 006 was a reworked version of the preceding Tyrrell 005 car and was competitive until it was gradually phased out in the early part of the 1974 season with Tyrrell moving onto the 007.

In 1973 a 006 was built for Cevert replacing chassis 002, with Stewart opting for the 005 for the final races of 1972. Stewart continued to use 005 for the first two races of 1973 while 006/2 was in construction. At the 1973 South African Grand Prix he achieved the maiden win for the 006 car. Stewart scored five victories on his way to the Drivers' Championship title with Cevert also taking several podium finishes. The 1973 season was a closely fought battle between Tyrrell and Lotus, with the latter eventually taking the Constructors' Title. Tragically, the 006 was also the car being driven by Cervert when he was fatally injured during practice for the 1973 United States Grand Prix.

After Cevert's accident a visibly devastated Stewart famously drove chassis 006/2 around the Watkins Glen circuit once last time, in an attempt to understand what had happened to Cevert. He never drove an F1 car competitively again.

The build is of the 1973 car driven by Jackie Stewart at the Monaco GP, a race he won. It is a resin kit by Ace Models and required some substantial alterations in order to achieve an acceptable finish. I reworked and sratch made most of the cockpit details, transmission and engine details, and scratch made the rear wing support.
