The Lola K-Mart Texaco T93/00 was the Newman Haas entry into the 1993 Indycar season. Driven by Mario Andretti and the then F1 World Champion but Indycar Rookie Nigel Mansell, it was powered by an 800bhp Ford Cosworth Turbocharged 2.6 ltr XB V8 engine. The car's fuel was Methanol Alcohol which gave it the ability to cruise at over 350km/h on oval tracks. It's suspension features pushrod activated upper rockers with inboard springs and dampers. The 1993 car featured an extensive increase in the use of Carbon Fibre elements over the 1992 car something which would become more and more common place on race cars of the future. After a long season the car eventually took Nigel Mansell to the Indycar drivers' title, the first time ever a driver has held both the F1 and Indycar Champion titles at the same time. Along with the drivers' title the Lola Newman Haas team also won the Constructor's title.
I will be building the Red 5 Nigel Mansell car in road course rather than oval setup configuration (larger downforce wings) with the addition of extra wing end pieces which were also used on a handful of non-oval circuits. The build will be full detailed, the eingine cover will be detached for the side pod covers to enable me to add further details underneath. With limited reference and no after market details sets available for this kit all extra details are scratch made.
