The British American Racing Team suffered a dismal start to their F1 career in 1999 with the BAR 001 car, they did not win a single championship point the entire season mainly due to the fact that they were plagued with reliability and component failures. The team stopped development on the car as early as the 5th race of season and focused all their efforts on the 2000 car. For 2000 they introduced the BAR 002 car. It was driven by the 1997 World Champion Jacques Villeneuve, and Brazilian Ricardo Zonta, both drivers had agreed to stay with the team despite their poor showing the season before.
Between 1984 and 1986 the Ford RS200 was produced in Boreham by Ford Motorsport, it was designed to replace the ageing MkII Ford Escort - one of the most successful rally cars of all time. It is a mid-engined - four wheel drive car and was designed to compete in the Group B category against the likes of the four wheel drive Audi, Peugeot and Lancia cars of that time. To comply with the then FIA homologation regulations, teams were required to build 200 cars and at least one road-legal car. It was first displayed to the public at the Belfast Motor Show. Power came from a 1.8 litre single turbocharged Ford Cosworth engine producing 250hp in road-going trim, and between 350 and 450hp for the competition cars. Sadly the car will be remembered for all the wrong reasons, for it was an RS200 that was involved the crash at the 1986 Portugese rally which effectively ended the Group B category.
This model is the Belga version of the car, driven by Belgian Robert Droogmans which entered the 24hr Ypres Rally. The kit is a part complete Modeler's resin kit which needed and number of scratch built parts to complete it. I added many engine details and further details to the interior. Belga decals are by Reji.
